The function of intelligence is to help policymakers understand a complex world. Few issues are more deserving of serious study. In 2014 UNC-Chapel Hill, in partnership with consortium members of the Triangle Institute for Security Studies was awarded a federal grant to promote the study of intelligence and security. Thanks to this grant we expect to see the development of over a dozen new courses on intelligence across our many campuses. Lectures, conferences, and seminars will be open to the public and generate, we hope, thoughtful debate.
