Graduate Studies/International Careers Conference.
Due to limited staffing, this program ended in Fall 1997. The event was designed to further the goal of diversity in the study and practice of international affairs. Each fall since 1991, T.I.S.S. sponsored a Graduate Studies/International Careers conference for students at the historically black colleges and universities of North Carolina. Typically, between 40 to 50 students attended to listen and question individuals involved in graduate admissions, graduate study, international business education, the study of international affairs, international law, the US foreign service, the Peace Corps, or some other field of endeavor. Typically this conference takes place in October, an was held at the Carolina Inn or the Alumni Center. Speakers have been drawn from the area, and from the State department. In some years, minority graduate students have spoken off their experiences as a graduate student at a prodominantly white institution.
