Few areas demand more informed analysis and discussion by thoughtful and informed citizenry than international security.  At the time it was founded, one of the key missions of TISS (then known as D-UNC) was to provide faculty members with venues for them to reach out  to the community.  TISS has engaged in a variety of different efforts over time. In the 1990s it put special emphasis on reaching out to minorities (in particular through sponsorship of a Model UN) and to women, and after 9/11 it made education of law enforcement officers a special mission. Interested readers can consult our TISS history to find out more about these efforts.  The mainstay of its public education efforts, has however, been its Speakers’ Program on Issues of National and International Security, which dates back to 1984.
